The Black Mask is the thirteenth episode of R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour: The Series.
Three kids, Bill, Julie, and Robbie break in to an old house. Bill discovers a black mask--a mask that allows them to see into the future. The kids mistakenly thought that the mask was showing the past and they see through an accident they desperately try to prevent.
The black mask is a mask that allows one to glimpse into the future. It only allows to show this power at the house where it was originated. At first, the trio, Bill, Julie and Robbie thought that the mask was showing them the past. Julie then discovered two kids in old fashioned clothes playing a board game, and she liked to see them so much that she decided that she wanted to put the mask back on. They realized that the kids were dead when they saw a vision of a piece of the roof falling down on them.
Thinking the mask shows the past, they try to prevent the children's deaths but cannot talk to them or interact with them while wearing the mask. In the basement they find the clothes the children were wearing. Hoping putting them on will allow them to be more connected with the children so that they can warn them of their deaths, the don their clothes, only to realize to late that the children in the old fashioned clothes were them all along: the mask told the -future-, not the past, and the roof collapses on them, killing them.
